The Diplomatic Passport
Looking to give your dog the ultimate freedom to travel with you whether to your beach house, your cabin in the country, one of the many scenic byways in the area or your even just your local dog park? This program will transition your dog from on-leash to off-leash reliability. Building on the 15" leash work from The Diplomatic Dog Fundamentals program I will teach your dog to complete all the foundation exercises without leash contact, but more importantly teach you how to "let go", but still stay connected.
Excellent Diplomatic Passport candidates are well socialized, emotionally mature, have completed The Diplomatic Dog Fundamentals and/or basic obedience training and are consistently and reliably responding on leash.
This program specifically covers:
Review of foundation exercises at a distance
Drop in motion - down from a distance while the dog is moving
Introducing and conditioning your dog to an electronic collar (additional charge ranging between $175 to $250, depending on brand and your dog's size)
Drag line work - the dog is trained while dragging a 15" leash that gradually becomes lighter and fades away
Training you how to use an electronic collar
Staying connected with your off-leash dog
Working off-leash around distractions
Keeping your dog attentive to you
Off-leash dog etiquette

Details:
An intensive two week program (Tuesday - Friday) during which I lay the foundation for you through a combination of in-town day training and in-home day training. The first week I will pick up your dog at your home to review the foundation exercises and introduce and condition your dog to an electronic collar - meaning help your dog understand what the sensation means. The second week I’ll solidify the foundation and create the protocols specific to your home. I will come to your home twice daily to train and work with your dog in your home and neighborhood. Of course, there are owner sessions for you as well - at the end of each week you will have a lesson to learn how to use what your dog has learned to create the structure and guidance that will help you navigate life together more easily.

Week 1 - In-Town Day Training
School is in session Tuesday - Friday from 10 am -2:00 pm
Training sessions both indoors and outdoors with crate rest in between
Field trips to work in new environments
Treadmill and agility training (as appropriate)
Train and play with other students
Pick-up and drop-off provided
60 minute lesson for you at the end of the week
Week 2 - In-Home Day Training
School is in session Tuesday - Friday from 10 am -2:00 pm
Two training sessions per day - once in the morning, once in the afternoon
You need not be present - training takes place while you go about your day
Indoor and outdoor sessions addressing issues specific to your home and neighborhood
Field trips as necessary/desired
60 minute lesson for you at the end of the week
60 minute follow-up lesson and continued phone/email support upon completion
